Dinesh Chandimal and Danushka Gunatilaka have been ruled out of the tournament while Akila Dananjaya is expected to be unavailable at least for the first 2 games.
Nonetheless, they have some good players in the likes of Upul Tharanga, Thisara Perera and Dasun Shanaka.
Perera has been excellent touch in the recent touch and with him adding a bit of caution to his game, he becomes a perfect limited overs player.
Since this is the first game I will be going with safer options from the lot i.e. Opener Tamim Iqbal who we all know is one of the best batsmen from the subcontinent, U Tharanga was in excellent form in the recent SLC T20 where he was the highest run-getter. One can expect Dhananjaya de Silva to bowl more in this game in the absence of Akila Dananjaya.
Shakib Al Hasan is a gold all-rounder and has an excellent record against Sri Lanka while T Perera is a must-have all-rounder who can pick a few wickets in the death overs, Mahmudullah has been picked because he is a definite starter in the XI.
Returning Malinga should walk into the XI directly today while Mortaza is a good finisher too for his team. M Rahman is back to full fitness and expected to do well.
