Following their five-match ODI series, India and Australia are now gearing up for a three-match T20I series. The home side would be looking to continue where they left off in the ODI series and have their sights set on dominating the T20 matches as well.
A 4-1 loss in the ODIs would have demoralised the Australians, but they would be focused on bouncing back and winning the T20 series. Both teams have made a few changes to their squads for this series in the hope that they have better options suited to the shortest format of the game.
Here’s a look at the new additions to both teams:
Daniel Christian (8.5 credits)
The burly all-rounder has been selected by the Australians as a player who can bowl his quota of four overs and use his big hitting to help the team score runs, especially in the lower order. Daniel Christian has played 15 T20Is for Australia, and has taken 11 wickets in those matches.
His record in India is decent, having impressed in the previous season of the T20 league, where he took 11 wickets in 13 matches. Rated at 8.5 credits, he could be a useful addition in your team.
Jason Behrendorff (8 credits)
The wildcard in the Australian squad, Jason Behrendorff is a left-arm fast bowler who has the ability to trouble the Indian batsmen with his pace and bounce. Uncapped so far, Behrendorff could potentially surprise the home side and is Australia‘s secret weapon.
The 27-year-old has a good record in T20 matches domestically, having taken 53 wickets in 38 matches at an average of 19.47. One of the lowest priced players in the series at 8 credits, he could prove to be a great selection for your teams.
Dinesh Karthik (8 credits)
The veteran Indian wicketkeeper-batsman is back in the squad after missing out against Sri Lanka and makes the team on the back of his performances against West Indies and the Domestic Trophy, where he impressed with his batting.
Dinesh Karthik also had one of his best seasons in the Indian T20 league, scoring 361 runs in 14 matches for his team at an average of 36.10. The fact that he is a great fielder in addition to being a good wicketkeeper makes him an interesting option. Rated at 8 credits, Karthik could be a good player to complete your team, if given the opportunity.
Shikhar Dhawan (9 credits)
The Indian opener had pulled out of the ODI series against Australia due to his wife’s illness and would be hoping to make a triumphant return to the T20I team. Shikhar Dhawan comes into the squad on the back of stellar performances in the series against Sri Lanka and also impressed in England earlier.
Dhawan doesn’t have a great record in T20Is, averaging a paltry 21, but would want to do well against Australia, and priced at 9 credits, could be a strong inclusion in any team.
Andrew Tye (8.5 credits)
The Australian has played only 5 T20Is for his country, but has been included in the squad based on his record in India. Tye had a great season in the Indian T20 league, picking up 12 wickets in only 6 matches.
Andrew Tye‘s ability to vary his pace and provide some useful batting low down the order makes him an interesting option. With a rating of 8.5 credits, he could prove to be a useful all-round option.
Moises Henriques (9 credits)
Though relatively new to the Australian T20 team, Moises Henriques is very well-known in India for his ability with both bat and ball in the shortest form of the game. Henriques scored 277 runs in 12 matches in the 2017 Indian T20 league, averaging 46.16. He has also picked up 38 wickets with the ball in 57 matches overall.
The 30-year-old would be a solid option to fill the all-rounder’s slot in any team and priced at 9 credits, is a good selection.
Ashish Nehra (8.5 credits)
The Indian paceman makes a comeback to the team after having last played for the country against England earlier this year. Ashish Nehra has a strong record in T20Is, having taken 34 wickets in 26 matches at an average of 21.44.
The 38-year-old has also been impressive in the Indian T20 League consistently, having taken 106 wickets in 88 matches, including 8 wickets in 6 matches in 2017. With a rating of 8.5 credits, the left-arm bowler brings experience and guile to the Indian side, and is a good option.
Tim Paine (8 credits)
Tim Paine will be the man keeping wickets for Australia in the T20 series against India. The 32-year-old has played only 10 matches for his country in the T20 format and would be looking to impress everyone.
Paine is a reliable presence behind the stumps and priced at 8 credits, offers an interesting option for any strong team.
