Priyank Panchal (IN-A) – The 27-year-old Gujarat batsman came into the first Test on the back of some good form playing for IN-R. He scored 2 centuries in the game against IN-G and would have hoped that he can continue that form in the match against New Zealand. However, he managed to score only 14 runs in the only innings India batted. He will look to put in a better performance in the 2^nd match and help his side win the series.

Henry Nicholls (NZ-A) – The captain of the New Zealand side for the series had a disappointing outing in the opening Test. He failed to make any score of note in both the innings of the match. Scores of 5 and 1 in both innings ensured that Nicholls couldn’t save the Test match for his side. With a first-class average of 36, Nicholls would look to help his side level the series with a major contribution.
